Work all weekends and holidays. A few hundred a month instead of a few thousand. Sales manager is toxic, so forgetful and shady. Events coordinator is crazy and too young for the job. Pros Sometimes free lunch. Cons Poor pay, horrible management and staff. The biggest detriment to this job were the hours. You're salaried, and they take advantage of this by working you beyond 50 hours a week. Management is also very poor - they had a low opinion of the employees and were not very good at leading the team.
Drama and workplace toxicity was often the norm of the day, which added to the normal workplace stress and drove many of us to quit. Sometimes the events were fun to host, but it just didn't make up for the other stuff you had to deal with. I'd recommend looking elsewhere for a job. Pros -Sometimes the event hosting was fun. Cons -Low pay, long hours, toxic management. Relaxed fun place to work! Great place to work! Easy schedule and great company!
You gain receptionist experience. Great for people in college. Small team but everyone works together. Yes There are 2 helpful reviews 2 No. Events and Adventures engages in shady business practices, has hard sell tactics, and the compensation is practically minimum wage.

Pros free time. Cons to slow passed for me i enjoy busy places. Yes There are 3 helpful reviews 3 No. It was fun, I did not see the C. O caring for the members, he seemed to be more concered with getting as much money out of them as possible. Which seem ironic since the company was designed to help get people out and to meet one another.
Beware, they are not truthful and don't care about you. Only the money you have! Events and Adventures is a nice idea in theory, especially if you are new to the area and do not know many people yet. However in REALITY, they lock you in a contract for the money, you still have to pay for the events of interest which vary in cost, and the events are spread all over downtown so of you don't feel like driving somewhere after a full work day -guess what?
And your not allowed to be in the club if your single. I now have a boyfriend, and am locked in the contract for another thousand bucks. Wanna join? Not cool. End of the day: they just want your money. I joined for a 6 month period in February Staff misrepresent the services expected. They ask questions, then use your answers to lie about their service.
The company boasts a private, "elite" group of people. I attended ONE event, which alone proved a completely opposite situation. Given the extremely inappropriate behavior--yelling, profanity, sexual references and gestures, and overall foolishness--I was not comfortable attending more events.
They collected information, on a first phone call, on what happened at the event for their own internal purposes. Firstly, I had told the slick salesman when I signed up that I was raised with good values and wanted to be around like-minded people.
They assured I would--LIE! Secondly, they have done nothing but insist that I keep going to events--after I told them repeatedly that I am uncomfortable being in situations that likely would include the same behavior. The events are open to all members, and the Company approves these people for membership.
A separate phone call was made TO ME to collect information on what happened at the one event. The staff person told me that he would talk to "corporate" about it to see what type of solution could be formed. When he did not follow up with me for more than a week, I tried following up, asking to speak to him. My name and cell were taken down for a return phone call, and then within minutes I received an email from a third individual, rudely telling me that no refund was to be expected and that an events manager was notified to possibly help me go to MORE events--AGAIN!
A little later that same day, the president, Mark Owen, emailed me and rattled off a list of accusations about my behavior--that I was slandering the company, harassing staff, and so on.
Just like their sales pitch And let's add "refusal to do anything, but count the bank roll". You want to bully me, Mark Owen? Come at me, Bro! Come at me! After the way I have been treated by your scamming company misrepresenting and stealing my money, I am not backing down when representing the TRUTH about your unethical company. I have emails proving the company's attempt to do nothing! Then you try to flip the script and falsely accuse me! When I say repeatedly that I do not want to be in situations where inappropriate behavior is aplenty, your company tells me that I have no choice but to tolerate it.
I went to ONE event. But instead, your company misrepresents and a 3-day cancellation contract then equates to SCAM. There aren't events "every day", so a member can not pay for services, attend to a first event and find out the TRUTH, and still have time to cancel. Not only do you pay a substantial membership fee, but you also have to pay large fees for the events themselves - not worth it.
You will pay a lot of money to belong to a group that is poorly run- the events are usually cancelled for poor attendance and if the event IS held, you will be one of maybe 3 or 4 people there- none of which were close to my age. A complete waste of time. I didn't meet a single person. Not to mention, they overcharged me every month- ran my card at random times hoping I wouldn't notice. If I missed an event I was charged money. The only way out of your contract is if you get married or die.
I really regret joining this group. Worst company I have ever dealt with! I was living in the lower mainland months ago, and became interested after hearing one of their countless ads on the radio.
I contacted them, and setup a interview to see if being a member was something I might be interested in. I told them in advance that I would not be joining, and that the first meeting was just to see the program, get the fixed costs, and get a sense for who the company was. I went in for an "interview" which was a hard sell, and very little actual info provided by the salesman I met. I explained that I just wanted the info to decide at a later date.
I said I was not into that, and just looking to meet people, since I was new to the area. He also told me that I could quit if it didn't work out for me. I figured I'd try for a few months and go from there. So I reluctantly and under alot of pressure, and left the office without any contract, paperwork, receipt, nothing but a calendar, and his business card. I looked at the calendar after I left, and thought I would see once they had the next months schedule to decide if I wanted to stay a member or not.
After seeing the schedule, and my work schedule shifting to evening, I contacted Events and Adventures to cancel my membership. After several emails back and forth, they told me I could not quit, and I was 'on the hook' for 18 months. I explained that wasn't what I was told, but they kept sending me bills. After giving up trying to explain it to them, they hired a collection agency to collect from me.
Yes, they will place a collection account on your credit report, your score will drop at least points and all of your other creditors will treat you badly by lowering your current limits or charging you higher interest.

They had a charity poker night, too, and I won big for the charity, so that was exciting to win and be able to do some good with it.
I've also participated in two of the new member meetings, as well as have done volleyball out at one of the areas out in Lakewood. With my work schedule, however, it is a little difficult now to participate as much as I want to. Events and Adventures has a lot of younger people in it, those in their 20s and 30s. So, that has been a little difficult as I am in my late 50s. There is quite an age gap there. It is very nice to chat with someone with a very young and idealistic energy, but it peters out.
Now that we have gotten into the colder months, there has been less things to do that are enjoyable for anybody of any age as there was in summer. The comedy club is a lot of fun, but during the week, I have work until 8 o'clock and have to be there by It is a little difficult for me to be attending events right now. I'm looking forward to being able to attend more events.
And once my schedule changes again, I will be able to do more things in the summertime. If they go back to Japan, I'm planning to do that this year. I'm also going to try and do at least one other trips, depending on what happens with my employment. I moved up to the Bay Area almost four years ago and through different things and situations, I've found myself without friends here doing stuff.
I figured it would be best to make memories with people that are in the same boat as I am. So, I looked Events and Adventures up, gave them a call, had the interview, and I found that what they have to offer is what I needed at the time. The day that I had my interview was the same day I was at my first event.
It was three hours later. The person I interviewed with, Teresa, was amazing to get me on with that event. She just signed me up for it right away, and it was kickball. When I got there, I was excited because I loved their process of doing background checks on people.
I went there with my wall down, so I was excited. I met a lot of new people in my first event and it hasn't stopped since. I went the next night to another event. I'm going to a lot of events every month. I like the activities where we're active. We go to archery. We play pool and kickball. I do like some of the dining events that we have. We went to this place called the Emporium in San Francisco about two and a half months ago.
Being that we're still in the middle of a pandemic, I found that the place was not wiping down the gaming machines and half the games were broken. They weren't even functioning. I'm hoping that my feedback and my questions has started them to double-check locations if they were prior to the pandemic. I was really not comfortable where we were. Other than that, most events have been okay. I just find that they are doing the same events every month. There's a lot of repeat events as opposed to new and fresh idea events.
I found that because of and everything shutting down, a lot of the international travel is rolled over. So, anyone who had signed up had already rolled over into this year. Then some of the activities that they have hasn't been my cup of tea as far as I can't go whitewater rafting. I have limitations physically.
So, if they did a Vegas trip where there was nothing but good food and shows and gambling, I'm down with it. I appreciate that they have more outdoor activities included in the packages that they have. But I'm still looking every time that there is something new for travel that I could do. I would definitely sign up because one of the biggest selling points for me was the travel.

It's a little different being exposed in a group of people and never being exposed. Some people are used to having all their business out in the open and the people are great. But it's a different style, which I'm getting used to.
Usually, I date somebody and then, it's over and you never meet them again. Events and Adventures is teaching you a different approach to dating as well as far as not being enemies or friends. You stay a friend but it's different.
I've not done it this way ever but it's been fun and amazing, and I've had nothing but great experiences since then. Other than that, I'm growing and learning. When there are events that are going on way over in Littleton and it's full, I would volunteer one or two days a week to do it near my part of town. When they're doing whirly ball on a Wednesday and it's packed, and that's a minute drive for me, I wish I would have had a volleyball game on this side of town, where there may be more people.
So far, I've had one massive event at my house and that was not through the Events and Adventures. It was after I've gotten to know these people and I invited them over. I would recommend making it more accessible to more groups and exploring it through others.
Halfway through the month, I want to do something and there are no openings. And even on the openings, people don't call. But overall, the company has an almoststar rating with Consumer Affairs. Common complaints included the events booking up too fast and the online ones being a bit disorganized:. That's despite having a whopping 72 complaints filed against various locations in the last 3 years. Some of the reviewers complained singles at the events were older than they were looking to date.
A few also noted the 3-day cancellation policy didn't give adequate time to experience the membership before deciding to keep it:. For those who praised their Events And Adventures experience, meeting new friends and having fun at the events seemed to be a common theme. For instance, this Yelp reviewer in San Francisco wrote:. Proceed with caution to avoid getting burned, especially when the company has been successfully sued.
A class action lawsuit filed in Orange County Superior Court was granted final approval, after the courts found the company illegally recorded interviews with prospective members.
The lawsuit was settled in favor of the Class Members. Our dating experts handle everything for you, from start to finish, on any dating site or app you want to use!
